.boycott tuesday.

I've been brainstorming something I can do on Tuesdays for a long time. Because I'm at work all day.
I'm mailing postcards.
To random people, in semi-random places.
With hand drawn art on them.

Here's the first one:

.blurple.

Blurple is what we, at work, refer to as that inbetween color of blue and purple. Against purple it looks blue, against blue it reverses. With school colors being so important most of the time, is turns into a giant problem when converting RGB photos to CMYK for printing. Most blue want to convert to blurple, because they're not really in the printable CMYK range.

So I made this:

Meanwhile I've been so out of sorts this week I spent most of yesterday thinking it was Wednesday; a pleasant surprise except I didn't post any sketchbook on Wednesday because I probably thought it was Tuesday.  I'm not entirely sure - it's been a hell of a week.

.raqs bohéme.

In case you didn't catch that this was coming up in less than two weeks.
We're doing a Time Warp theme...

No, not that Time Warp.

...but we are doing all "vintage music," all the songs are from at least 20 years ago.

Sort of.

Some of them are covers - because they have to be or because they can be.
Whichever.

And there's at least one song that's a mashup of two vintage songs....so it' technically new, but also technically not.

Melody Gabrielle, Brittney Laleh Banaei, Bellatrix, Rebecca Hartmen and myself.

Don't miss it - it's our Anniversary!

At RecordBar, 6-9pm, same cheap 5$ cover charge.
See you there.

St. Arnold

The Patron Saint of Beer

"From man's sweat and God's love, beer came into the world."

St. Arnold's Feast Day is actually July 18th - but he seemed much more appropriate for what's going to happen in the United States on Tuesday than St. Patrick...

.throwback thursday.

A customer recently asked if I could make her a box of samples of the discontinued Blue Box fragrances, and I did. But you can't just make 0.5ml of a scent - my batches are by the tablespoon so there's a little bit extra for any curious souls who want to give them a sniff and a whiff.
  These scents are:

Doctor/Donna
Sunshine and citrus with a touch of bitter earth, Doctor/Donna is quick and sharp with top notes of Litsea Cubbea, a Middle note of Bergamot, and Vetiver undertones, rounded out with hints of Jasmine.

Hot Italian
Rosemary blends with basil, a hint of Spikenard and beautiful floral undertones - whether you Are a Hot Italian (or the Last Centurion?), or you're trying to attract one - this should do the trick.

Idris
The scent of dark wet earth mixed with floral overtones, and a touch of winter. Like the heart of the Tardis, this scent is whimsical and complex.

Still Not Ginger
While you still may not be ginger, this scent is actually full of it – warm spice balanced with Vanilla and the earthy aroma of Vetiver and Oakmoss.

Christmas Special
Light airy citrus blends with seasonal spices before they melt down into the comfort of the hearth. Blood orange, ginger, vanilla and oakmoss are only the beginning of this holiday blend, with the warmth of mulled wine and fresh ginger snaps.

There are only three of these sets available.
So you know.

.spring scents.

Just in time for that gorgeous full moon this morning:

Seasonal Scents!
I just posted a sample box listing for my Spring Scent collection: Druid, Moss, and Flora.

Druid
The musk and earth of fallen leaves, warm wood smoke, and the gentle undercurrent of sandlewood and sweet honeysuckle. Druid has a compelling dark earth quality perfect for the end of Winter and beginning of Spring.

Moss
Light and fresh and crisp, Moss is imbued with honeysuckle and violet leaf, rounded out with roman chamomile and sandlewood. Like rain in the deep forest, it is inviting without overwhelming the senses.

Flora
With a slow release and a sweet finish, this scent is a blend of lavender, honeysuckle, jasmine and ginger grass. This is a light floral scent, perfect for balmy May weather.
These scents are representational for the three Spring months, and the moon names and mythology associated with those months. Druid is for March, and the cold transition from winter to spring. Moss is for the April rains, and the beginning of fresh greenery. Flora is for May, when spring comes into full bloom.

Moss is my personal favorite of the three, but you'll have to try them for yourself.
